I made a quick (low grade) video this afternoon of the GONG and BEEP sounds from the OBC & Check Control System....and thought I'd just share the video here, too.

The impetus for the video was a thread started on an e39 forum where the owner questions what are the 3 BEEP, BEEP, BEEP he hears. As 95% of us know here...that the 3 beep warning is the HOUR MEMO that goes off 15 seconds before the hour (if you have it turned on).

Some kept posting that it may be the speed LIMIT warning or the ICE warning...so after wrapping my head with DUCT TAPE to keep the white stuff from oozing out after my head split opened...I made this quick little 15 second video using the OBC's TEST #13.

I did learn something today that I had not noticed before...I was thinking that the HOUR MEMO was the only warning that used more than ONE audible sound...but I was wrong. The LIGHTS ON warning actually GONGS twice.

* Hour Memo warning - 3 audible BEEPS in succession
* LIGHTS ON warning - 2 audible GONGS
* KEYS IN IGNITION LOCK - 1 audible GONG repeated in succession
* Everything else - 1 GONG

Here's the video of the GONG sounds:

* 1st = HOUR MEMO's (3 beeps are heard)
* 2nd = LIGHTS ON (higher toned (1) beep is heard)
* 3rd = speed LIMIT MPH & LOW FUEL (lower toned (1) beep is heard)
* 4th = KEYS IN IGNITIOIN LOCK (higher toned (1) beep is heard)
