I don't watch any of those shows, nor does the rest of my family. I just don't see the point of it. I'll admit I have no data to support this belief, but I think constant exposure to gun violence on "acceptable" tv can only desensitize people to it. That combined with the ready availability of guns makes shootings a easy and convenient thing to do.

I also agree with others that tighter gun laws does not make crime go away, nor does it keep folks intent on shooting someone from getting a gun and doing so. But even so, I'd love to make it a hell of lot less convenient to get and use a gun. To me, it's sort of like car theft. Criminals tend to take the easiest route. Go after the car with the keys in it instead of the one with an alarm and locked doors. Can they still get it if they want it, sure..with enough work. How about the one that uses the "club". Yep again, but a bit more work. If we make it harder to get guns, only those that are hell-bent on getting one will go through the effort. Maybe we should ban ammunition instead? Maybe we should tax the hell out of it? Beats me, but make it harder to kill someone than going down to the Walmart or street corner and picking up a gun.

Just my two cents.
