Subject: that might be a different problem that transmission

the transmission problem might be caused by engine related problems, such as simply a defective mass airflowmeter , air leaks or other causes.
I would bring the car to another BMW shop to make a detailed computer based analysis ro read the fault codes.
Also the cost for a complete trans rebuilt of $2.500 is much on the high side, maybe it just needs a new valve body.
Coolant level alarm is a simple problem, either the coolant level sensor is defective, or the connection is not good, or a wire is broken. First remove the coolant level sensor from the expansion tank next to the firewall and check it.
Also bridge the connection wire to the sensor wire a simple wire or metal bridge like a paper clip at the plug, if the alarm then goes off, you can be sure that the problem is not a wire, but the sensor itself.
I have no idea what code 100 means, what code reader did the shop use?

Check over there to the right>>>> under related links under indy mechanics, maybe there is one recommended in your area.
