My power steering has been acting up. When I first start the car up everything works fine but the longer I drive the more it messes up. Also it seems to start acting up faster when it's hotter outside.

Here is what it's doing:
Power steering works fine then I start to turn either direction(making turns at intersections) at the start of the wheel turn it works ok then it feels like the steering just stops and I have to put alot of force behind it to get it to turn more. Then as I start to accelerate the power steering comes back on and the rest of the turn works like normal.

My thoughts would be that the belts might be getting hot and stretching out after they get to hot and in turn slipping, but I'm not a 100% sure how the BMW power steering system works, plus I'm not a mechanic.

The car is a 2003 540i 6 Speed.
