Subject: Wife Approved External Cell Antenna

Bluetooth kit installation went without a hitch until I was ready to install the external cell antenna on the roof of my wife's 525i. Got a lot of static from the wife, "you're not making my car look like a ham radio operator's car!" Nix on external mounting of the double stinger external GSM tri-band antenna P/N 84 53 6 906 433. Ordered the hidden bumper mount cell antenna P/N 84 11 1 470 326 to keep the peace. However, wife could not recharge and use phone in the car at the same time until I got around to installing the bumper mounted antenna. Solution! Put the double stinger antenna on the rear window deck just behind the rear seat middle headrest and snaked the cable through a hole in the wall at the front of the trunk. There is a rubber knockout plug behind the center rear seat armrest that will give you access to the trunk from the rear passenger seat. I figured if the phone would work inside of the car, why not the external antenna. Everything works great now so the phone can be charged in the snap-in cradle while being used with the Bluetooth handsfree kit. One of these days I'll get around to installing the bumper mounted antenna. ;)
