Subject: E39 16:9 upgrade have 2 issues

I did the 4:3 to 16:9 upgrade for my 2000 M5 yesterday. The install went pretty well, but I have two issues and want to see if I got a bum screen/nav unit:

1. There is a white line about 2/3 down the screen whenever the unit is on - especially during onboard computer functions.

2. The SELECT button does not register. When I am in CD mode, I used to get the RND and other options by pressing SELECT. Right now the SELECT does not seem to do anything.

Is there something I can check to make sure the screen/nav unit are connected solidly? Are there other things people can suggest short of getting a new screen?
