Subject: Older-style key to newer-style key upgrade. I did it.

I did this a couple of weeks ago, after reading the posts about it. I took a few high-resolution macro pictures and somehow I had CF corruption and the pics were gone. I've been holding off until I can take more picture but decided to at least talk about it.

1) It took me two keys. I made the first one ugly and learned
2) I discovered that the new keys have two designs--one is printed labels (that fade) and more smooth plastic housing, the other has cast labels and rougher plastic housing. They are otherwise about the same.
3) I used CR2025. I found a location for the transponder (by removing the old one). The transponder has go in in the exact way to sit flat.
4) I had to trim the back of the buttons to get the transponder to clear.
5) I used four eyeglass repair kit screws and wire gauge drill bits. I counter sunk the holes and it was VERY VERY delicate work. The screws are recessed and flush and the whole thing looks GREAT!!
6) I used a propane torch to heat up the key.

It was just something to do. And yes, the range is much better.

There are clearly more details. I'll take some pictures this weekend and post them.

JAMES.
